Abramson	HB No. 1374
Abstract: Provides relative to the authority of the Recovery School District to receive,
manage, and expend certain insurance proceeds.
Present law creates the Recovery School District (RSD) and provides for its powers and
authority. Authorizes the RSD to receive, manage, and expend all state, local, or federal
funding for repairing, renovating, or rebuilding, or building a school or facility and all
insurance proceeds attributable to damage done to any property except the portion used to
pay certain debt owed. Requires a specified portion of revenues to be transferred to the
RSD.
Proposed law retains present law but specifies that the insurance proceeds are those paid or
payable to the prior school system attributable to damage done to property on or after Aug.
28, 2005, and provides for retroactive application of proposed law to Aug. 28, 2005, and
prospective application.
(Amends R.S. 17:1990(B)(4)(b)(iii))
