AN ACT1
To amend and reenact Code of Civil Procedure Article 4843(C), (D), (E), (F), and (G),2
relative to the civil jurisdiction of city courts; to increase the civil jurisdictional3
amount in dispute in the City Court of Baker, in the City Court of Baton Rouge, in4
the City Court of Crowley, in the City Court of Rayne, and in the City Court of5
Zachary; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. Code of Civil Procedure Article 4843(C), (D), (E), (F), and (G) are hereby8
amended and reenacted to read as follows: 9
Art. 4843. City court jurisdiction; amount in dispute; injunctive actions by state or10
political subdivision11

C. In the City Court of Bossier City, the City Court of Lafayette, the City13
Court of Ville Platte, and any city court in which the population of the territorial14
jurisdiction is less than fifty thousand, except as otherwise specifically provided by15
law, the civil jurisdiction is concurrent with the district court in cases where the16
amount in dispute, or the value of the property involved, does not exceed fifteen17
thousand dollars.18
D. In the City Court of Baton Rouge and the City Court of Houma, the civil19
jurisdiction is concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute,20
or the value of the property involved, does not exceed twenty thousand dollars.21
E. In the City Court of Abbeville, the City Court of Baker, the City Court of22
Bogalusa, the City Court of Bunkie, the City Court of Eunice, the City Court of23

of Monroe, the City Court of Natchitoches, a city court in New Orleans, the City1
Court of Opelousas, the City Court of Plaquemine, the City Court of Port Allen, the2
City Court of Ruston, the City Court of Shreveport, the City Court of Sulphur, and3
the City Court of Winnsboro, and the City Court of Zachary, the civil jurisdiction is4
concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute, or the value5
of the property involved, does not exceed twenty-five thousand dollars.6
F. In the City Court of Crowley, City Court of Hammond, the City Court of7
Jennings, and the City Court of Oakdale , and the City Court of Rayne, the civil8
jurisdiction is concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute,9
or the value of the property involved, does not exceed thirty thousand dollars.10
G. In the City Court of Baker, the City Court of Baton Rouge, City Court of11
Leesville, the City Court of Minden, the City Court of Springhill, and the City Court12
of Slidell, and the City Court of Zachary the civil jurisdiction is concurrent with the13
district court in cases where the amount in dispute, or the value of the property14
involved, does not exceed thirty-five thousand dollars.15
