HORTICULTURE: Repeals certain examination requirements of retail florists
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 3:3807(B)(2), relative to retail florists; to repeal certain2
examination requirements for retail florists; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1. R.S. 3:3807(B)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:5

B. The examination for each profession shall be compiled from lists of8
questions submitted by the following organizations:9

(2) The retail florist examination shall be compiled from a list of questions11
submitted by the Louisiana State Florists Association, Louisiana State University12
Agricultural Center, and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. In13
addition to the written questions, the retail florists examination shall include a14
demonstration of actual floral design work by the applicant. The commission shall15
adopt rules and regulations regarding the demonstration portion of the retail florist16
examination.17

Abstract: Repeals the demonstration of design examination requirement for retail florists.
Present law requires each applicant for a professional license to satisfactorily pass a written
examination prior to issuance to a license. The examination process shall include a
demonstration of actual floral design work by the applicant.
Proposed law changes present law to repeal the demonstration portion of the examination
process.
