[R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)] Abramson HB No. 148 Abstract: Provides for renewal of the Upper Hurstville Security District's parcel fee at any election. Present law creates the Upper Hurstville Security District in Orleans Parish. Present law authorizes the city of New Orleans to collect a parcel fee on the property within the district in order to fund augmented security within the district boundaries. Present law requires the implementation of the fee to be voted on by the registered voters of the district at an election held in accordance with the La. Election Code. Present law further provides that the parcel fee may be renewed if approved by a majority of the registered voters of the district voting on the proposition. Proposed law retains present law. Present law requires that an election on the question of renewal may be held only at a mayoral primary election. Proposed law removes this requirement. Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action. (Amends R.S. 33:9091.6(F)(3)(b))
