CRIME:  Adds fine and restitution to aggravated flight from an officer
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 14:108.1(E) and to enact R.S. 14:108.1(F), relative to the crime2
of aggravated flight from an officer; to amend the criminal penalty for aggravated3
flight from an officer; to provide for restitution; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 14:108.1(E) is hereby amended and reenacted  and R.S. 14:108.1(F)6
is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง108.1.  Flight from an officer; aggravated flight from an officer8

E. Whoever commits aggravated flight from an officer shall be imprisoned10
at hard labor for not more than two years and may be fined not more than two11
thousand dollars.12
F. In addition to any other fine or penalty imposed pursuant to the provisions13
of this Section, the court may, in its discretion, order restitution as a part of the14
sentence. If a person ordered to make restitution pursuant to this Section is found15
to be indigent and therefore unable to make restitution in full at the time of16
conviction, the court shall order a periodic payment plan consistent with the person's17

Abstract: Adds a monetary fine and restitution to the criminal penalty for the crime of
aggravated flight from an officer.
Present law provides for the crime of aggravated flight from an officer and provides a
penalty of imprisonment for not more than two years.
Proposed law retains present law and provides for a maximum fine of $2,000.
Proposed law further provides that restitution may be ordered by the court in its discretion.
