TRAFFIC:  Requires DOTD to establish traffic control signal specifications
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 32:235(A)(3), relative to traffic; to require the Department of Transportation2
and Development to develop specifications for certain traffic control devices; and to3
provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 32:235(A)(3) is hereby enacted to read as follows:6

(3)  Specifications for automated traffic enforcement systems placed on any10
street or highway in the state shall be included in the manual and specifications11
required by Paragraph (1) of this Subsection. For the purposes of this Section12
"automated traffic enforcement system" means traffic control devices with a camera13
or optical device installed to work in conjunction with a traffic control signal or radar14
speed detection equipment, or both, and designed to record images that depict the15
license plate or other identifying feature of a motor vehicle that is not operated in16
compliance with instruction of a traffic control signal or a posted traffic sign.17

Proposed law requires DOTD to adopt and enforce policies and specifications for automated
traffic enforcement systems placed on any street or highway in the state. Provides for
definition of "automated traffic enforcement systems".
