Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 285 BY REPRESENTATIVE PEARSON INSURANCE/SURPLUS LINE: Exempts surplus lines insurance delivered by approved unauthorized insurers from laws regarding form and rate filing and approval AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 22:446, relative to surplus lines insurance; to exempt approved unauthorized2 insurers delivering such insurance in this state from laws regarding form and rate3 filing and approval; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 22:446 is hereby enacted to read as follows:6 ยง446. Surplus lines insurance delivered by approved unauthorized insurers;7 exemption from form and rate filing and approval8 Approved unauthorized insurers delivering surplus lines insurance in this9 state shall not be required to file or seek approval of their forms and rates.10 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not11 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature12 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
