MONICA, AND ST. GERMAIN
AN ACT1
To enact Part IX of Chapter 1 of Title 34 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to be2
comprised of R.S. 34:340.31,  relative to port properties; to authorize the board of3
commissioners of the St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District to name the4
administration/security complex building of the port in honor of a living person; to5
provide for limitations; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related6
matters.7
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published8
as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of9
Louisiana.10
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:11
Section 1. Part IX of Chapter 1 of Title 34 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950,12
comprised of R.S. 34:340.31, is hereby enacted to read as follows: 13
ยง340.31.  Samuel B. "Sammy" Nunez, Jr., Building14
Notwithstanding R.S. 42:267 or any other law to the contrary, the board of15
commissioners of the St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal District  may name the16
administration/security building of the port located at 100 Port Boulevard in17
Chalmette in honor of Samuel B. "Sammy" Nunez, Jr., a living person who18
contributed to the growth and well-being of St. Bernard Port, Harbor and Terminal19
District; served as a state representative from St. Bernard Parish from 1964 through20
1969; served as a state senator from 1969 through 1996 from St. Bernard Parish; and21
was inducted into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame on January 30, 2010.22 ENROLLEDHB NO. 295

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not1
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature2
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If3
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become4
effective on the day following such approval.5
