Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 36 BY REPRESENTATIVE BALDONE CORRECTIONS/PRISONERS: Provides with respect to the housing of certain prisoners AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 15:709(C), relative to prisoners; to provide for the housing of2 certain prisoners convicted and sentenced in another state; and to provide for related3 matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 15:709(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 §709. Prisoners convicted in other states and housed in Louisiana7 * * *8 C. Present law provides that a prisoner convicted and sentenced by another state cannot be housed in a private correctional facility if the prisoner is classified as a maximum custody prisoner. Proposed law retains present law and prohibits those maximum custody prisoners convicted and sentenced by another state from being housed in local jails. (Amends R.S. 15:709(C))
