Hutter	HB No. 380
Abstract: Establishes the criteria for a hospital located in a municipality with population
of less than 33,000, in a parish of less than 68,000, and within three miles of Jackson
Barracks to be designated as a "rural hospital".
Present law provides that a hospital located in a municipality with population of less than
33,000, in a parish of less than 68,000, and within three miles of Jackson Barracks must have
no more than 60 hospital beds as of Nov. 1, 2010, to be designated as a "rural hospital".
Proposed law provides that a hospital in the specified location must have no more than 60
beds as of Nov. 1, 2013, in order to be designated as a "rural hospital". Proposed law
changes the date by which the hospital's number of beds must be measured to meet the "rural
hospital" standard from Nov. 1, 2010, to Nov. 1, 2013.
