LAW ENFORCE/OFFICERS:  Requires law enforcement officials to undergo training on
the use of tasers
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 40:2405.6, relative to law enforcement officers; to provide for proper training2
on the use of tasers; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 40:2405.6 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 5
ยง2405.6.  Training for law enforcement officers; tasers6
The Peace Officer Training Study Committee shall develop a training course7
on the use of tasers. This course shall be mandatory for all peace officers and shall8
include instruction on the proper handling and use of tasers, including safety9
mechanisms. The course shall teach the impact of high voltage tasers and the effect10
that they have on the human body.11
