LAW ENFORCE/OFFICERS: Provides for training on the handling and use of electronic
control devices
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 40:2405.6, relative to law enforcement officers; to provide for training on the2
use of electronic control devices; to require manufacturers to provide training; and3
to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 40:2405.6 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง2405.6. Training for peace officers; electronic control devices7
Manufacturers of electronic control devices, commonly referred to as "stun8
guns", which are sold for law enforcement purposes within the state of Louisiana9
shall develop a training and certification course which shall instruct peace officers10
as to the proper handling and use of the devices. The course shall also contain11
instruction regarding the impact of high voltage electronic control devices and the12
effects of their use. Every peace officer who purchases or is issued an electronic13
control device for use in the performance of his duties shall successfully complete14
