HOUSE BILL NO. 443

COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES: Provides relative to campuses designated as part of the La.
Technical College
AN ACT1
To repeal R.S. 17:1994(B)(15), (33), (34), and (41); to repeal provisions designating the2
Jefferson, Sidney N. Collier, Slidell, and West Jefferson campuses as part of the3
Louisiana Technical College; to provide relative to the transfer of certain programs,4
courses of study, funds, facilities, property, obligations, and functions; to provide an5
effective date; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1.  The provisions of R.S. 17:1994(B)(15), (33), (34), and (41) are hereby8
repealed in their entirety.9
Section 2. By not later than August 15, 2010, the Board of Supervisors of10
Community and Technical Colleges shall transfer all programs and courses of study offered11
through the Jefferson, Sidney N. Collier, Slidell, and West Jefferson campuses of the12
Louisiana Technical College to Delgado Community College, along with the funds,13
facilities, property, obligations, and functions relative thereto.14
Section 3. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not15
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature16
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If17
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become18

Abstract: Deletes provisions designating the Jefferson, Sidney N. Collier, Slidell, and West
Jefferson campuses as part of the La. Technical College. Also provides for the
transfer of all programs, courses of study, funds, facilities, property, obligations, and
functions of such campuses to Delgado Community College.
Present law, in part, designates the following campuses as part of the La. Technical College:
Jefferson, Sidney N. Collier, Slidell, and West Jefferson.
Proposed law repeals present law designations relative to these campuses.
Proposed law also provides that by not later than Aug. 15, 2010, the Board of Supervisors
of Community and Technical Colleges shall transfer all programs and courses of study
offered through the Jefferson, Sidney N. Collier, Slidell, and West Jefferson campuses of the
technical college to Delgado Community College, along with the funds, facilities, property,
obligations, and functions relative thereto.
Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
