PARKS/RECREATION COMMN: Provides relative to the membership of the State Parks
and Recreation Commission
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 56:1681(A)(2)(c), relative to the State Parks and Recreation2
Commission membership; to provide relative to nominations; and to provide for3
related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 56:1681(A)(2)(c) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as6
follows: 7
ยง1681. Creation; purpose and duties; members; appointments and terms;8
compensation; chairman; meetings9

(2)  The commission shall be composed of eighteen members, as follows:12

members nominated by the Louisiana State Garden Society Louisiana Garden Club15

Abstract: Provides relative to the State Parks and Recreation Commission membership,
changes a nominating entity 	from the La. State Garden Society to the La. Garden
Club Federation, Inc.
Present law creates the State Parks and Recreation Commission to promote the goals and
objectives of the office of state parks and act in an advisory capacity to that office and its
assistant secretary and the secretary of the department in matters relating to parks, recreation
facilities, programs, and the efficient administration thereof.
Present law provides for a commission composed of 18 members. Provides for one member
to be appointed by the governor from a panel of four nominations made by the La. State
Garden Society.
Proposed law provides instead for one member to be appointed from a panel of four
nominations made by the La. Garden Club Federation, Inc.  Otherwise retains present law.
