AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 14:52(A), relative to the crime of simple arson; to expand the2
definition of simple arson; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1. R.S. 14:52(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 5
ยง52. Simple arson 6
A. Simple arson is either of the following:7
(1) the The intentional damaging by any explosive substance or the setting8
fire to any property of another, without the consent of the owner and except as9
provided in R.S. 14:51.10
(2) The starting of a fire or causing an explosion while the offender is11
engaged in the perpetration or attempted perpetration of another felony offense even12
though the offender does not have the intent to start a fire or cause an explosion. 13
