Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 544 BY REPRESENTATIVE PUGH DISTRICTS/WATERWORKS: Increases the amount of per diem paid to the members of the governing board of the Tangipahoa Water District AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:3813.2(C)(2), relative to Tangipahoa Parish; to provide2 relative to the Tangipahoa Water District; to increase the amount of per diem paid3 to members of the governing board; and to provide for related matters.4 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published5 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of6 Louisiana.7 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:8 Section 1. R.S. 33:3813.2(C)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:9 ยง3813.2. Tangipahoa Water District10 * * *11 C.12 * * *13 (2)(a) Members of the board of commissioners of the Tangipahoa Water14 District or the expanded Waterworks District Number II of Tangipahoa Parish shall15 be entitled to per diem pay at the rate of one hundred dollars per regular meeting or16 special meeting. (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the board of1 commissioners of the Tangipahoa Water District shall be entitled to per diem at the2 rate of one hundred fifty dollars per regular meeting or special meeting. Per diem3 shall not be paid for more than twelve special meetings per year, and the board of4 commissioners shall not hold more than two regular meetings during any one5 calendar month.6 * * *7 Section 2. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2010; if vetoed by the governor8 and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,9 2010, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.10 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services. Present law requires the governing authority of Tangipahoa Parish to pay the members of the board of commissioners of the Tangipahoa Water District a per diem at the rate of $100 per regular or special meeting. Provides that per diem shall not be paid for more than 12 special meetings per year. Prohibits the board from holding more than two regular meetings during any one calendar month. Proposed law increases the rate of per diem paid to governing board members from $100 to $150 per regular or special meeting. Proposed law otherwise retains present law. Effective July 1, 2010.
