REAL ESTATE: Prohibits a home inspector from also providing services as a real estate
agent in the same transaction
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 37:1490, relative to home inspections; to prohibit the performance of both2
home inspection services and real estate professional services by the same person in3
a transaction; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 37:1490 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง1490. Home inspection and professional services as a real estate licensee7
prohibited in the same transaction8
No person licensed pursuant to the Louisiana Home Inspectors Licensing9
Law, R.S. 37:1471 et seq., shall engage in or be financially compensated for any10
home inspection in a transaction in which that person received a fee, commission,11
or other valuable consideration while acting as a licensee under the Louisiana Real12
Estate License Law, R.S. 37:1430 et seq., in connection with the same transaction.13 HLS 10RS-1303	ORIGINAL

Abstract: Prohibits a home inspector from also providing services as a real estate agent in
the same transaction.
Proposed law provides that no person acting as a licensed home inspector shall engage in or
be financially compensated for any home inspection in a transaction in which that person
received a fee, commission, or other valuable consideration while acting as a licensed real
estate professional in connection with the same transaction.
