COURTS/FEDERAL: Authorizes a federal magistrate to perform a marriage ceremony for
a specified time period
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 9:203(E)(8), relative to marriage officiants, judges, and justices of the peace;2
to provide for the extension of authority for certain federal magistrates to preside3
over a marriage ceremony for a specified period of time; and to provide for related4
matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 9:203(E)(8) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7

(8) Any United State magistrate of the Western District, Eastern District, or12
Middle District may perform marriage ceremonies within this state.  The authority13
granted by this Paragraph shall only be effective from October 1, 2010, through14
