ACT No. 389 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 847 BY REPRESENTATIVE WOOTON AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 14:207(A), relative to the crime of alteration or removal of2 identifying numbers on motor vehicles; to provide for the elements of the crime; to3 include trailers; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 14:207(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6 ยง207. Motor vehicles, alteration or removal of identifying numbers prohibited; sale,7 etc., of motor vehicle with altered identifying numbers prohibited; penalty;8 application of Section 9 A. No person shall cover, remove, deface, alter, or destroy the10 manufacturer's number or any other distinguishing number or identification mark on11 any motor vehicle, or motor vehicle part, semi-trailer, or trailer as defined by R.S.12 32:1 for the purpose of concealing or misrepresenting its identity; nor shall any13 person buy, sell, receive, dispose of, conceal, or knowingly have in his possession14 any motor vehicle, or motor vehicle part, semi-trailer, or trailer as defined by R.S.15 32:1 from or on which the manufacturer's number or any other distinguishing16 number or identification mark has been covered, removed, defaced, altered, or17 destroyed for the purpose of concealing or misrepresenting its identity.18 * * *19 SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATI VES PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA APPROVED:
