Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE BILL NO. 938 BY REPRESENTATIVE MICHAEL JACKSON MTR VEHICLE/INSPECTION: To increase emission inspection fees AN ACT1 To amend R.S. 32:1306(C)(3)(a), relative to motor vehicles; to increase fees for inspection2 and maintenance program in nonattainment zone; and to provide for related matters.3 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4 Section 1. R.S. 32:1306(C)(3)(a) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as5 follows:6 ยง1306. Operation of official inspection stations7 * * *8 (3)(a) For parishes and municipalities that have been placed on the9 nonattainment list for ozone standards and classified as "serious" or worse by the10 United States Environmental Protection Agency an additional eight fifteen dollars11 shall be charged for each inspection that includes the performance of the inspection12 and maintenance (I/M) program pursuant to the provisions of R.S. 30:2054(B)(8) for13 1980 or newer model year motor vehicles. The motor vehicle inspection station shall14 retain six dollars of the additional charge for implementation and performance of the15 I/M program. Two dollars of the additional charge shall be transferred to the16 Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to implement and operate the17 inspection and maintenance program. Present law provides that an additional $8 shall be charged for each inspection that includes the performance of the inspection and maintenance (I/M) program for 1980 or newer model year motor vehicles. Proposed law retains present law but provides $15, rather than $8, shall be charged for each inspection that includes the performance of the inspection and maintenance (I/M) program for 1980 or newer model year motor vehicles. Proposed law provides that $7 of the $15 shall be used for mass transit purposes. (Amends R.S. 32:1306(C)(3)(a))
