COMMENDATIONS: Commends all persons who are registered as organ and tissue donors
in La. and recognizes the lifesaving benefits of increasing organ donor awareness
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend all persons who are registered as organ and tissue donors in Louisiana, and all2
efforts to increase awareness among Louisiana citizens of the lifesaving benefits of3
organ donation.4
WHEREAS, organ and tissue transplants offer patients a new chance at healthy,5
productive, normal lives and return them to their families, friends, and communities; and6
WHEREAS, more than one hundred thousand men, women, and children currently7
require lifesaving transplants; and8
WHEREAS, every eleven minutes, another name is added to the national organ9
transplant waiting list; and10
WHEREAS, on average, eighteen people die each day due to the lack of organs11
available for transplant; and12
WHEREAS, a single donor can help over fifty people; and13
WHEREAS, the mission of the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency is to save and14
enhance lives through organ and tissue donation; and15
WHEREAS, the month of April has been recognized since 2003 as National Donate16
Life Month.17
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby18
commend all persons who are registered as organ and tissue donors in Louisiana.19 HLS 10RS-1705 ORIGINAL

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby1
commend all efforts to increase awareness among Louisiana citizens of the lifesaving2
benefits of organ donation.3
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted4
to the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency.5
