COMMENDATIONS: Commends R-Squared Productions upon the premiere of Flag of My
Father, which was filmed in northeast La. in 2009
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend R-Squared Productions upon the premiere of Flag of My Father, which was2
filmed in northeast Louisiana in 2009.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend R-Squared Productions upon the4
memorable and historic occasion of the premiere of Flag of My Father; and5
WHEREAS, Flag of My Father, which tackles veterans' struggles and family6
dynamics, holds the distinction of being the first feature film shot predominately in northeast7
Louisiana with high profile actors; and8
WHEREAS, the film captures the struggles of an Army nurse and former Iraq9
prisoner of war and focuses on strong patriotic themes which bring awareness to issues faced10
by veterans; and11
WHEREAS, the film's stars include beloved American actors John Schneider and12
William Devane; and13
WHEREAS, the talented cast and crew are walking the red carpet at the premiere of14
the film on Friday, April 16, 2010, in West Monroe, Louisiana; and15
WHEREAS, the premiere weekend celebration also includes a four-mile run with16
proceeds donated to a veterans' charity, screenings of the film for veterans, live music, food,17
military displays and booths, war reenactments, and a display of the actual Humvee blown18

WHEREAS, the site of the exciting premiere and festivities is First West, the largest1
Baptist church in the state, and before each screening, local Ouachita Parish high school2
choirs and state university choirs are performing the National Anthem; and3
WHEREAS, R-Squared Productions merits a special measure of commendation upon4
the release of this much anticipated film.5
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby6
commend R-Squared Productions upon the premiere of Flag of My Father, which was7
filmed in northeast Louisiana in 2009, and will be shown for the first time on Friday, April8
16, 2010, in West Monroe, does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous9
pride and honor that the film brings to the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend best10
wishes to the company for continued success in the future.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted12
to R-Squared Productions.13
