HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 119
BY REPRESENTATIVES GALLOT AND DOWNS AND SENATOR KOSTELKA
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Mary Hobdy of Grambling.
WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Legislature of Louisiana learned of the death of Mary Hobdy of Grambling on Thursday,
April 15, 2010; and 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hobdy was a vital member of the Grambling State University
community who made a lasting impact on all of those whose lives she touched; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hobdy came to Grambling in September of 1950 as a secretary
at Grambling State University; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hobdy married Fredrick C. Hobdy, a legendary basketball coach
at Grambling State University, on May 27, 1951; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hobdy was a gifted writer and enjoyed writing poetry; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hobdy was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years,
Fredrick C. Hobdy, who passed away on December 8, 1998; and
WHEREAS, with the death of Mrs. Hobdy, Louisiana has lost one of her finest
citizens; and 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hobdy leaves behind a rich and unique legacy and is greatly
missed; and
WHEREAS, although the death of Mrs. Hobdy has left a tremendous void in her
community, her memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and
loved her.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Mary Hobdy of Grambling, does
hereby recognize and record for posterity her outstanding accomplishments and singular
contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that this ENROLLEDHCR NO. 119

wonderful woman will forever bring to her family, friends, and community, Grambling State
University, and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Mary Hobdy.
