HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 131
BY REPRESENTATIVE RICHMOND
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend Derrick Edwards for his accomplishments in life and his hard work and
dedication.
WHEREAS, Derrick Edwards is a New Orleans native and a graduate of Loyola
University School of Law; and
WHEREAS, he is the ultimate example of what can be accomplished through hard
work and endurance in spite of the obstacles that life may throw your way; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Edwards was paralyze d from the neck down as a result of a
catastrophic football injury during his last year in high school; and
WHEREAS, Derrick Edwards went on to receive his bachelor's degree from Tulane
University's A.B. Freeman School of Business and a master's degree in accounting; and
WHEREAS, Derrick Edwards graduated from Loyola University College of Law and
is now practicing law as an associate at Usry, Weeks, & Matthews, APLC; and
WHEREAS, after his injury, Mr. Edwards began to commit himself to community
service, particularly in the area of public speaking and advocating for the rights of disabled
citizens.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Derrick Edwards for his accomplishments in life and his hard work and
dedication.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Mr. Derrick Edwards.
