GERMAIN, STIAES, AND THIERRY AND SENATORS BROOME, CHEEK, DORSEY, DUPLESSIS, JACKSON, MOUNT, PETERSON, AND QUINN COMMENDATIONS: Commends Elizabeth Dickson upon her receipt of a 2010 Women of Excellence Award from the La. Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend Chef Elizabeth Dickson upon her receipt of a 2010 Women of Excellence2 Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation.3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Chef Elizabeth Dickson upon her receipt4 of a 2010 Women of Excellence Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus5 Foundation and to recognize her vital contributions to the citizens of Louisiana as an active6 and dedicated community servant; and7 WHEREAS, Elizabeth Dickson, CPEC, CCI, is the chef and longtime program8 director for the American Culinary Federation Educational Institute-accredited culinary arts9 program at Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC); and10 WHEREAS, for more than twenty years before arriving at BPCC, Chef Dickson11 worked in the food service industry as an executive pastry chef and personal chef; and12 WHEREAS, Chef Dickson has been named Chef of the Year twice and has served13 as an outstanding contributing member, treasurer, and president of the North Louisiana14 American Culinary Federation chapter; she is also very active in the Red Cross Culinary15 Classic, having served as judging chair for seven years; and16 WHEREAS, Chef Dickson is a past president and lifetime member of the17 International Cake Exploration Societé, frequently judges sugar art shows around the18 country, has been a featured judge on the Food Network for the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show,19 HLS 10RS-2466 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 138 Page 2 of 3 and has competed in several Culinary Classics and Sugar Art Shows and won many awards;1 and2 WHEREAS, under Chef Dickson's leadership, the BPCC Culinary Program has3 thrived and grown tremendously. Chef Dickson is also an ambassador for BPCC to the4 public through her program's buffets and catering services; and5 WHEREAS, Chef Dickson works to continue gaining knowledge by participating in6 various national and international classes and competitions; and 7 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation created the8 Women of Excellence Awards to recognize and honor extraordinary women of excellence9 across the state for their outstanding achievements and contributions; and10 WHEREAS, recipients of the Women of Excellence Awards exhibit characteristics11 of integrity and professionalism, personify excellence in their area of specialty, and are12 committed to community service to better society as a whole; and13 WHEREAS, this year, there were seven categories for the Women of Excellence14 Awards: Business, Culinary Arts, Education, Law and Justice, Volunteerism and Civic15 Involvement, Young High School Woman of Excellence, and Young Woman of Excellence;16 and17 WHEREAS, the recipients of the 2010 Women of Excellence Awards are being18 recognized at the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation's Women of19 Excellence Awards Gala on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Baton Rouge; and20 WHEREAS, Chef Dickson received a 2010 Women of Excellence Award in the21 category of Culinary Arts; and22 WHEREAS, Chef Elizabeth Dickson merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of23 commendation for her dedication to excellence and her outstanding accomplishments. 24 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby25 commend Chef Elizabeth Dickson upon her receipt of a 2010 Women of Excellence Award26 from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation, does hereby recognize and27 record for posterity her singular contributions to the citizens of Louisiana as an active and28 dedicated community servant, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the29 HLS 10RS-2466 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 138 Page 3 of 3 tremendous honor and pride that she brings to her family, friends, and community, Bossier1 Parish Community College, and the state of Louisiana.2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted3 to Chef Elizabeth Dickson.4 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
