BY REPRESENTATIVE BURFORD AND SENATOR CHEEK
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Curtis L. McCune upon his retirement as mayor of
Stonewall
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Curtis L. McCune upon his retirement as mayor of Stonewall.2
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Curtis L. McCune upon his retirement as3
mayor of Stonewall and to recognize him for his unwavering dedication to public service;4
and5
WHEREAS, Mayor McCune attended Stonewall High School and graduated from6
Louisiana College, where he majored in chemistry; and7
WHEREAS, Mayor McCune completed his graduate studies at Tulane University,8
and he also attended numerous technical and managerial courses; and9
WHEREAS, Mayor McCune worked for Thiokol Corporation for thirty-five years10
of highly productive service, producing rocket motors and munitions for the United States11
Armed Forces; and12
WHEREAS, at Thiokol Corporation, Mayor McCune started out as a junior chemist13
and was eventually promoted to chemist, chemical engineer, research chemist, chief chemist,14
and quality director; and15
WHEREAS, upon his retirement, Mayor McCune was the director of all quality16
engineering and testing for the Longhorn Division of Thiokol Corporation; and17
WHEREAS, for the past thirty-six years, Curtis McCune has served with great18
distinction as mayor of the town of Stonewall, and he is retiring from this vital position on19

WHEREAS, before serving as mayor, Mr. McCune spent two years as road1
commissioner and devoted three years of his life to the service of his country; and2
WHEREAS, over the years, much of Mayor McCune's time has been spent serving3
with great distinction on local, parish, and regional committees; and4
WHEREAS, Mayor McCune is a loving husband to his wife, Nancy McCune, and5
a devoted father and grandfather to his four children and nine grandchildren; and6
WHEREAS, Curtis L. McCune merits a special measure of commendation for the7
tremendous pride and honor that he brings to his family, friends, and community, the town8
of Stonewall, and the state of Louisiana.9
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby10
commend Curtis L. McCune upon his retirement as mayor of Stonewall, does hereby11
recognize and record for posterity his outstanding accomplishments and manifold12
contributions to his community, and does hereby extend best wishes for his continued13
success and happiness in the years to come.14
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted15
to Curtis L. McCune.16
