HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 175

STATE EMPLOYEES: Directs the commissioner of administration to study and make
recommendations on reductions to state employment
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To direct the commissioner of administration to develop a comprehensive study of the state2
workforce encompassing each department, agency, and program of the executive3
branch of state government and based on the results shall recommend reductions to4
state employment.  Such recommendations shall be submitted to the Joint Legislative5
Committee on the Budget by November 1, 2010, and shall include a plan for6
implementation in the Fiscal Year 2011-2012 Executive Budget.7
WHEREAS, budget deficits may require reductions in the state workforce; and8
WHEREAS, in order to make the most responsible reductions in the state workforce,9
a comprehensive look at the current workforce status is necessary; and10
WHEREAS, reductions in the workforce may need to be done in a short time period11
and will require planning as to where and how such reductions will be made. 12
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby13
direct the commissioner of administration to develop a comprehensive study of the state14
workforce encompassing each department, agency, and program of the executive branch of15
state government and based on the results shall recommend reductions to state employment.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such recommendations shall be submitted to the17
Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget by November 1, 2010, and shall include a plan18
for implementation in the Fiscal Year 2011-2012 Executive Budget.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted20
