COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Louise Williams of Weyanoke upon the celebration of
her 110th birthday on June 15, 2010
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To commend Louise Williams of Weyanoke upon the celebration of her one-hundred-tenth2
birthday on June 15, 2010.3
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Louise Williams of Baton Rouge upon the4
historic occasion of the celebration of her one-hundred-tenth birthday; and5
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams was born on June 15, 1900, in Weyanoke, Louisiana, to6
Annie and Harry Cathern; and7
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams and her husband of forty-five years, Andrew Williams,8
welcomed their daughter, Caroline Williams Adams, in 1921; and9
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams is the loving and devoted matriarch of a family which10
includes her daughter, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great11
grandchildren; and12
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams helped support her family by doing seamstress work13
while her husband worked at a saw mill; and14
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams attends St. Paul Baptist Church #1 in Weyanoke, where15
she was baptized in 1919 and served in various capacities; and16
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams has seen much change throughout her long life and17
vividly recalls the first time she ever saw an automobile and rode in an airplane; and 18
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams currently resides at St. Francisville Country Manor,19

an exercise wellness program, church services, popcorn and movie parties, and family visits;1
and2
WHEREAS, Mrs. Williams is celebrating her one-hundred-tenth birthday on3
Thursday, June 15, 2010, with family and friends; and4
WHEREAS, for well over a century, Louise Williams has distinguished herself as5
an exemplary and highly admired citizen of Louisiana; and 6
WHEREAS, the fellow citizens of Louise Williams hope that she is aware of how7
much pride and joy her long and wonderful life has brought to them; and8
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,9
and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like Louise10
Williams, an exceptional woman and an inspiration to all; and11
WHEREAS, Louise Williams merits a special measure of commendation for the12
tremendous honor that she brings to the town of Weyanoke, to the state of Louisiana, and13
to all who know and love her.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby15
commend Louise Williams of Weyanoke upon the memorable and historic celebration of her16
one-hundred-tenth birthday, does hereby recognize and record for posterity the extraordinary17
life she has lived in the eleven decades since her birth, does hereby express enduring18
gratitude for the singular contributions she has made to her family, friends, community, and19
state, and does hereby extend to her every good wish for health and happiness.20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted21
to Louise Williams.22
