HLS 10RS-4380 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 185 BY REPRESENTATIVE LANDRY CHILDREN: Requests the Louisiana Supreme Court to establish a repository for parenting coordinators A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To urge and request the Louisiana Supreme Court to develop a centralized system for2 monitoring the certification and registration of parenting coordinators and to make3 the list of currently certified coordinators readily available to the general public.4 WHEREAS, the use of parenting coordinators in high conflict child custody cases5 has been growing in this state for many years; and6 WHEREAS, the parenting coordinator profession has particular education and7 training requirements; and8 WHEREAS, there are numerous professionals who have completed the necessary9 qualifications in order to become a parenting coordinator; and10 WHEREAS, there is currently no mandatory central registry system to help ensure11 that courts have a list of current and qualified parenting coordinators; and12 WHEREAS, courts, practicing attorneys, and the general public would benefit from13 having a central registry system to reference for the appointment of parenting coordinators14 and to ensure that they are fully certified and qualified to perform the services requested of15 them.16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby17 urge and request the Louisiana Supreme Court to develop mandatory requirements for18 certification, registration, and monitoring of parenting coordinators.19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted20 to the chief justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court and that they provide a report of their21 HLS 10RS-4380 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 185 Page 2 of 2 findings and recommendations to the House Committee on Civil Law and Procedure prior1 to January 1, 2012.2 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
