State Exhibit Museum A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1 To commend Forrest Dunn upon his retirement from the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum2 in Shreveport.3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and recognize Forrest Dunn upon his4 retirement from the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum; and5 WHEREAS, Forrest Dunn has served with great distinction as the director of the6 Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport for more than eleven years; and7 WHEREAS, during his tenure as director of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum,8 Mr. Dunn worked with the Friends of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum to bring9 nationally recognized exhibits to the museum and to promote and enhance the museum's10 collections, gardens, and grounds; and11 HLS 10RS-4648 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 201 Page 2 of 3 WHEREAS, under Mr. Dunn's outstanding term of leadership, the Louisiana State1 Exhibit Museum became the only public museum in Louisiana to establish an affiliation with2 the Smithsonian Institution; and 3 WHEREAS, Mr. Dunn has been committed to a life of public service, serving with4 unwavering dedication as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 19725 until 1984, using every opportunity as a widely respected and admired legislator to serve his6 constituency in Caddo Parish and the citizens of the state of Louisiana in an honorable and7 dedicated manner, and serving diligently on the House committees on commerce, education,8 retirement, and ways and means; and9 WHEREAS, Mr. Dunn has also served with great effectiveness as a member of the10 Caddo Parish School Board, president of the Holiday in Dixie Festival, campaign chairman11 for the United Way, and president of the executive committee of the State Fair of Louisiana;12 and13 WHEREAS, among Mr. Dunn's well-deserved honors have been his selection for the14 Special Humanitarian Award of the Community Council in 1978 and as a Shreveport Times15 outstanding leader in the Shreveport-Bossier community in 2002; and16 WHEREAS, in addition to his service to the state of Louisiana, Mr. Dunn served his17 country with great pride and valor in the United States Navy; and18 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities,19 and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like20 Forrest Dunn, an exceptional gentleman and an inspiration to all; and21 WHEREAS, Forrest Dunn merits a special measure of commendation for the22 tremendous honor that he brings to his family and friends, the Louisiana State Exhibit23 Museum, the state of Louisiana, and the United States of America.24 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby25 commend Forrest Dunn upon his retirement from the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, does26 hereby extend enduring appreciation to this great Louisianian for his long and highly27 productive term of public service, and does hereby recognize and record for posterity his28 extraordinary accomplishments and contributions to his community, state, and nation.29 HLS 10RS-4648 ORIGINAL HCR NO. 201 Page 3 of 3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted1 to Forrest Dunn.2 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
