HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 113

CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences upon the death of Mona McClaran Anderson
A RESOLUTION1
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Mona McClaran Anderson.2
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the3
Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of Mona McClaran Anderson on4
Sunday, May 9, 2010, at the age of sixty-one; and5
WHEREAS, a native of New Iberia, Mona McClaran Anderson was born on January6
2, 1949; and7
WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson was a paralegal for more than thirty years and was widely8
respected within the legal community; and9
WHEREAS, for several years, Ms. Anderson served on the board of directors of the10
Louisiana Association on Compulsive Gambling, and she was very instrumental in the11
support and encouragement of those suffering due to compulsive gambling; and12
WHEREAS, Ms. Anderson will always be remembered for the tremendous strength13
and courage with which she faced her battle with cancer and for how she never wavered in14
her deep Christian faith; and15
WHEREAS, preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Bernice Alvarado, Ms.16
Anderson is survived by three daughters, Leslye McClaran Morgan, Ashley McClaran, and17
Baileigh McClaran Levee and her husband Zac; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Parker, and18
Avahline; her brother, Frank Alvarado; her sisters, Dolores Boutte, Patsy Lennie, and19
Jennifer Manuel; and many nieces, nephews, and friends; and20 HLS 10RS-4669	ORIGINAL

WHEREAS, with the death of Ms. Anderson, Louisiana has lost one of her finest1
citizens, and though her death has created a tremendous void in her community, she will2
forever remain an inspiration in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved her.3
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the4
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the5
death of Mona McClaran Anderson, does hereby recognize her outstanding achievements6
and singular contributions, does hereby record for posterity her extraordinary gifts and7
talents, and does hereby extend appreciation for her enduring legacy that will continue to be8
a source of great pride and honor for her family, friends, community, and state.9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted10
to the family of Mona McClaran Anderson.11
