HLS 10RS-5843 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 175 BY REPRESENTATIVE GARY SMITH CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the deaths of Kay Roeder, Bruce Roeder, and Debbie Roeder of Luling A RESOLUTION1 To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the deaths of Kay Roeder, Bruce Roeder,2 and Debbie Roeder of Luling.3 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the4 Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the deaths of Kay Roeder, Bruce5 Roeder, and Debbie Roeder of Luling on Friday, June 11, 2010; and6 WHEREAS, Kay Roeder and her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Debbie7 Roeder, were among those killed in a devastating flash flood in Arkansas while on a8 camping trip; and 9 WHEREAS, camping in Arkansas has been a favorite tradition of the family for10 decades, and many family members and friends were camping along the Little Missouri11 River at the Albert Pike Recreation Area when heavy rains caused the river to surge before12 dawn, resulting in the deaths of twenty people; and13 WHEREAS, the deaths of the Roeders have left a tremendous void in their14 community, and their passings have created a genuine sense of grief and loss in the hearts15 of their fellow citizens; and16 WHEREAS, with the deaths of these wonderful individuals, their families, friends,17 and fellow citizens have lost people whose contributions have left an indelible mark on every18 person whose life they touched; and19 WHEREAS, these citizens deserve honor, recognition, gratitude, and respect for the20 joy that they brought to their family, friends, community, and state.21 HLS 10RS-5843 ORIGINAL HR NO. 175 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the1 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the2 deaths of Kay Roeder, Bruce Roeder, and Debbie Roeder of Luling, does hereby extend3 heartfelt sympathies to their loved ones as they mourn this tragic loss, and does hereby4 recognize that the memories of these extraordinary people shall live forever in the minds and5 hearts of all who knew and loved them.6 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted7 to the family of Kay Roeder, Bruce Roeder, and Debbie Roeder.8 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
