HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 175
BY REPRESENTATIVE GARY SMITH
A RESOLUTION
To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the deaths of Kay Roeder, Bruce Roeder,
and Debbie Roeder of Luling.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the deaths of Kay Roeder, Bruce
Roeder, and Debbie Roeder of Luling on Friday, June 11, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Kay Roeder and her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Debbie
Roeder, were among those killed in a devastating flash flood in Arkansas while on a
camping trip; and 
WHEREAS, camping in Arkansas has been a favorite tradition of the family for
decades, and many family members and friends were camping along the Little Missouri
River at the Albert Pike Recreation Area when heavy rains caused the river to surge before
dawn, resulting in the deaths of twenty people; and
WHEREAS, the deaths of the Roeders have left a tremendous void in their
community, and their passings have created a genuine sense of grief and loss in the hearts
of their fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, with the deaths of these wonderful individuals, their families, friends,
and fellow citizens have lost people whose contributions have left an indelible mark on every
person whose life they touched; and
WHEREAS, these citizens deserve honor, recognition, gratitude, and respect for the
joy that they brought to their family, friends, community, and state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
deaths of Kay Roeder, Bruce Roeder, and Debbie Roeder of Luling, does hereby extend
heartfelt sympathies to their loved ones as they mourn this tragic loss, and does hereby ENROLLEDHR NO. 175

recognize that the memories of these extraordinary people shall live forever in the minds and
hearts of all who knew and loved them.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the family of Kay Roeder, Bruce Roeder, and Debbie Roeder.
