HLS 10RS-3120 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 44 BY REPRESENTATIVE PERRY CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences upon the death of Steve Racca of Hackberry A RESOLUTION1 To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Steve Racca of Hackberry.2 WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the3 Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of Steve Racca of Hackberry on4 Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the age of sixty-one; and 5 WHEREAS, Mr. Racca was a 1966 graduate of Jennings High School and a 19706 graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette; and7 WHEREAS, Mr. Racca had been highly involved in the Hackberry community since8 1970 when he began his teaching career as a vocational agriculture instructor at Hackberry9 High School; and10 WHEREAS, as a teacher, Mr. Racca worked with the Hackberry Future Farmers of11 America livestock program and high school rodeo program, and he served with unwavering12 dedication as coach for the Hackberry High School golf team and girls softball team; and13 WHEREAS, Mr. Racca was also the founder and president of the Marshland14 Festival; and15 WHEREAS, Mr. Racca also served with great distinction as president of the16 Cameron Parish Police Jury and was a member of the Sabine River Authority board; and17 WHEREAS, Mr. Racca is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Donette "Donnie"18 Racca; sons, Steve Racca, Jr., and Chris Racca; stepdaughters, Tara Wells and Lara Fenter;19 mother, Rita Racca; brother, J.H. "Butch" Racca, Jr.; sisters, Jane Sneed and Judy20 Andrepont; eleven grandchildren; and an array of extended family members and friends; and21 HLS 10RS-3120 ORIGINAL HR NO. 44 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Mr. Racca was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Racca, and1 his father, J.H. Racca; and2 WHEREAS, with the death of Mr. Racca, Louisiana has lost one of her finest3 citizens; and 4 WHEREAS, Mr. Racca, who was admired by all whose lives he touched, leaves5 behind a rich and unique legacy and is greatly missed; and6 WHEREAS, although the death of Steve Racca has left a tremendous void in his7 community, his memory shall live on forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and8 loved him.9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the10 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the11 death of Steve Racca of Hackberry, does hereby recognize and record for posterity his12 outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring13 appreciation for the pride and honor that this wonderful man will forever bring to his family,14 friends, community, and state.15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted16 to the family of Steve Racca. 17 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
