HLS 10RS-3478 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 51 BY REPRESENTATIVE FOIL COMMENDATIONS: Commends Nathalie Malcolm for receiving the 2010 Exceptional Research Opportunities Program award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute A RESOLUTION1 To commend Nathalie Malcolm for receiving the 2010 Exceptional Research Opportunities2 Program Award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Nathalie Malcolm as a recipient of the4 2010 Exceptional Research Opportunities Program (EXROP) Award from the Howard5 Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI); and6 WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and graduated7 from the Dunham School; and8 WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm is currently a student at Louisiana State University where9 she majors in biochemistry; and10 WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm is only one of seventy-eight students nationwide that has11 received this prestigious recognition; and12 WHEREAS, HHMI supports the efforts of scientists, educators, colleges,13 universities, museums, and biomedical research institutions through its grants to institutions14 and individuals; and15 WHEREAS, the EXROP links the resources of HHMI's Science and Grant programs16 to provide talented undergraduate students with outstanding research summer experiences17 by matching the selected students with seventy-six HHMI scientists at thirty-five institutions18 across the United States; and19 WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm has been matched with scientist Connie Cepko at Harvard20 University; and21 HLS 10RS-3478 ORIGINAL HR NO. 51 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm merits a special measure of commendation for her1 outstanding accomplishments as a citizen and scholar.2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the3 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Louisiana State University student Nathalie4 Malcolm, for receiving the 2010 Exceptional Research Opportunities Program Award from5 the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, does hereby recognize and record for posterity her6 exceptional academic achievements, and does hereby extend to her best wishes for continued7 success and in all of her future endeavors.8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted9 to Nathalie Malcolm.10 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
