ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2010 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 51 BY REPRESENTATIVE FOIL A RESOLUTION To commend Nathalie Malcolm for receiving the 2010 Exceptional Research Opportunities Program Award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Nathalie Malcolm as a recipient of the 2010 Exceptional Research Opportunities Program (EXROP) Award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI); and WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm was raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and graduated from the Dunham School; and WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm is currently a student at Louisiana State University where she majors in biochemistry; and WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm is only one of seventy-eight students nationwide that has received this prestigious recognition; and WHEREAS, HHMI supports the efforts of scientists, educators, colleges, universities, museums, and biomedical research institutions through its grants to institutions and individuals; and WHEREAS, the EXROP links the resources of HHMI's Science and Grant programs to provide talented undergraduate students with outstanding research summer experiences by matching the selected students with seventy-six HHMI scientists at thirty-five institutions across the United States; and WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm has been matched with scientist Connie Cepko at Harvard University; and WHEREAS, Ms. Malcolm merits a special measure of commendation for her outstanding accomplishments as a citizen and scholar. ENROLLEDHR NO. 51 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Louisiana State University student Nathalie Malcolm, for receiving the 2010 Exceptional Research Opportunities Program Award from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, does hereby recognize and record for posterity her exceptional academic achievements, and does hereby extend to her best wishes for continued success and in all of her future endeavors.
