High School Technology Challenge A RESOLUTION1 To commend Welsh High School upon winning first place in the Louisiana High School2 Technology Challenge.3 WHEREAS, for the second consecutive year, Welsh High School has won first place4 in the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge, sponsored by the University of5 Louisiana at Monroe; and6 WHEREAS, in winning the contest, Welsh High School defeated nearly three7 hundred schools that competed in the online technology competition; and8 WHEREAS, in the competition, twelve students from Welsh High School split into9 different groups to solve various tasks in a four-hour time period; and10 WHEREAS, the tasks featured in the technology competition included creating11 PowerPoint presentations and spreadsheets and finding information on the Internet within12 a certain time limit; and13 WHEREAS, school officials at Welsh High School attribute the school's success in14 the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge to its outstanding business department,15 which prepares students for the competition; and16 WHEREAS, Welsh High School merits a special measure of commendation for its17 success in the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge and its dedication to academic18 excellence.19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the20 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Welsh High School upon winning first place21 HLS 10RS-3962 ORIGINAL HR NO. 67 Page 2 of 2 in the Louisiana High School Technology Challenge, does hereby recognize and record for1 posterity the outstanding academic achievements of the students who participated in the2 competition, and does hereby express enduring appreciation for the tremendous honor and3 pride that the school brings to its faculty, staff, and students, the town of Welsh, and the state4 of Louisiana.5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted6 to Pat Deshotel, principal of Welsh High School.7 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
