HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 74
BY REPRESENTATIVE RICHMOND
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends Pastor Corey Watson on his 7
th
 pastoral anniversary
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Pastor Corey Watson on his seventh pastoral anniversary.2
WHEREAS, Pastor Watson has a heart for God and for young people in New3
Orleans, Louisiana, and across the country; and4
WHEREAS, Pastor Corey Watson was born in New Orleans on March 19, 1973; and5
WHEREAS, he is married to Mrs. Melissa Watson; and6
WHEREAS, they have two children, Lillian Hannah Watson and Corey Benjamin7
Watson; and8
WHEREAS, he is the pastor of one of Watson Memorial's mission churches; and9
WHEREAS, he has served many years advocating for the youth in his community;10
and11
WHEREAS, Pastor Watson was ordained to be a minister in May 2000; and12
WHEREAS, he was installed as pastor in May 2003 of the Watson Memorial13
Westbank location; and14
WHEREAS, Pastor Watson is a dual degree graduate of Tulane and Xavier15
universities where he acquired bachelor of science degrees in electrical engineering and16
physics; and17
WHEREAS, he is employed by the D. Kanter Company consultant engineers; and18
WHEREAS, he served as a counselor for at-risk children with the agency, Minority19

WHEREAS, he facilitated seminars that disseminated information to young people1
to help them avoid many pitfalls that affect young people; and2
WHEREAS, he served as a manhood development counselor for the Family Center3
of Hope, the community outreach arm of Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries; and4
WHEREAS, he implemented a citywide forum for youth, utilizing his many years5
of training and the vast experience of his father Senior Pastor Tom Watson; and6
WHEREAS, under his energetic and dynamic leadership as musical director, Pastor7
Corey Watson and the Mass Choir have been featured at the Essence Music Festival and the8
New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.9
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the10
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Pastor Corey Watson on his seventh pastoral11
anniversary.12
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted13
to Pastor Corey Watson.14
