HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 79
BY REPRESENTATIVE LEGER
A RESOLUTION
To recognize Monday, May 17, 2010, as YMCA Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the volunteers and members of the
Louisiana YMCAs and to recognize Monday, May 17, 2010, as YMCA Day at the Louisiana
State Capitol; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the YMCA is to build strong kids, strong families, and
strong communities through programs that instill values of caring, honesty, respect, and
responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs are dedicated to providing programs and services
to more than one hundred thousand children, youth, and adults; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs support the development of integrated, community-
based strategies for serving children and families; and
WHEREAS, Louisiana's YMCAs stand ready to support state government efforts to
provide development programs for children and youth, strengthen families, and mobilize and
coordinate broad efforts to support children and families through partnerships that meet
community needs; and
WHEREAS, on Monday, May 17, 2010, representatives of Louisiana's YMCAs are
meeting in the Louisiana State Capitol with their state representatives and senators to discuss
and exchange ideas on issues facing youth and families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Monday, May 17, 2010, as YMCA Day at
the Louisiana State Capitol and does hereby commend the members and volunteers of
Louisiana's YMCAs for their dedication to families throughout the state. ENROLLEDHR NO. 79

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Doug Evans, chairman of the Louisiana Statewide Alliance of YMCAs.
