HIGHWAYS: Requests DOTD to establish a joint task force with the parish council of St.
Charles Parish to study improving the safety issues on La. Hwy. 90 through St.
Charles Parish
A RESOLUTION1
To urge and request the Department of Transportation Development to establish a joint task2
force with the parish council of St. Charles Parish to study the possibility of3
improving safety issues on Louisiana Highway 90 through St. Charles Parish. 4
WHEREAS, Louisiana Highway 90 through St. Charles Parish is slated to become5
part of the Interstate 49 corridor; and6
WHEREAS, over the years, this area has increased in both commercial and7
residential developments; and8
WHEREAS, from the western boundary of St. Charles Parish to the eastern boundary9
of the parish, traffic has increased drastically with no major road improvements; and10
WHEREAS, over the last eighteen years the members of the parish council of St.11
Charles Parish have either introduced and approved a resolution or transmitted12
correspondence to the Department of Transportation and Development at least sixty-nine13
times regarding safety conditions or about major accidents provided to the parish council by14
concerned citizens who travel Louisiana Highway 90. 15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the16
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation17
Development to establish a joint task force with the parish council of St. Charles Parish to18
study the possibility of improving safety issues on Louisiana Highway 90 through St.19

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the1
president of the Senate, the secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development,2
and the Luling, Des Allemands, Paradise, and Bayou Gauche volunteer fire departments. 3
