HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 97

A RESOLUTION
To urge and request the Department of Transportation Development to establish a joint task
force with the parish council of St. Charles Parish to study the possibility of
improving safety issues on Louisiana Highway 90 through St. Charles Parish. 
WHEREAS, Louisiana Highway 90 through St. Charles Parish is slated to become
part of the Interstate 49 corridor; and
WHEREAS, over the years, this area has increased in both commercial and
residential developments; and
WHEREAS, from the western boundary of St. Charles Parish to the eastern boundary
of the parish, traffic has increased drastically with no major road improvements; and
WHEREAS, over the last eighteen years the members of the parish council of St.
Charles Parish have either introduced and approved a resolution or transmitted
correspondence to the Department of Transportation and Development at least sixty-nine
times regarding safety conditions or about major accidents provided to the parish council by
concerned citizens who travel Louisiana Highway 90. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Department of Transportation
Development to establish a joint task force with the parish council of St. Charles Parish to
study the possibility of improving safety issues on Louisiana Highway 90 through St.
Charles Parish.  ENROLLEDHR NO. 97

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
president of the Senate, the secretary of the Department of Transportation and Development,
and the Luling, Des Allemands, Paradise, and Bayou Gauche volunteer fire departments.
