AN ACT1
To amend and reenact Code of Civil Procedure Article 4843(D), (E), (F), and (G), relative2
to city courts; to increase the civil jurisdictional amount in dispute in the city court3
of Winnfield, the city court of Monroe, and the city court of Baton Rouge; and to4
provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. Code of Civil Procedure Article 4843(D), (E), (F) and (G) are hereby7
amended and reenacted to read as follows:8
Art. 4843.  City court jurisdiction; amount in dispute; injunctive actions by state or9
political subdivision10

D. In the City Court of Baton Rouge and the City Court of Houma, the civil12
jurisdiction is concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute,13
or the value of the property involved, does not exceed twenty thousand dollars.14
E. In the City Court of Abbeville, the City Court of Baker, the City Court of15
Bogalusa, the City Court of Bunkie, the City Court of Eunice, the City Court of16
Kaplan, the City Court of Lake Charles, the City Court of Marksville, the City Court17
of Monroe, the City Court of Natchitoches, a city court in New Orleans, the City18
Court of Opelousas, the City Court of Plaquemine, the City Court of Port Allen, the19
City Court of Ruston, the City Court of Shreveport, the City Court of Sulphur, the20
City Court of Winnsboro, and the City Court of Zachary, the civil jurisdiction is21
concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute, or the value22

of the property involved, does not exceed twenty-five thousand dollars.1
F. In the City Court of Hammond, the City Court of Jennings, and the City2
Court of Monroe, the City Court of Oakdale, and the City Court of Winnfield the3
civil jurisdiction is concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in4
dispute, or the value of the property involved, does not exceed thirty thousand5
dollars.6
G. In the City Court of Baton Rouge, the City Court of Leesville, the City7
Court of Minden, the City Court of Springhill, and the City Court of Slidell, the civil8
jurisdiction is concurrent with the district court in cases where the amount in dispute,9
or the value of the property involved, does not exceed thirty-five thousand dollars.10
