Authorizes the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism to enter into a cooperative agreement for Palmetto Island State Park. (8/15/10) AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 56:1702, relative to state parks; to provide for the Palmetto Island State Park;2 to provide for certain agreements for the operation and maintenance of such state3 park; to provide terms, conditions, and requirements; and to provide for related4 matters.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 56:1702 is hereby enacted to read as follows:7 ยง1702. Palmetto Island State Park; agreements for operation and maintenance8 A. The Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism is hereby9 authorized to enter into a cooperative agreement with any appropriate public10 or private entity for the operation and maintenance of the Palmetto Island State11 Park for a public purpose. Such agreement shall require that the state shall be12 responsible for any and all costs for road construction and maintenance, and for13 any and all costs for heating, cooling, and sewerage, except electricity costs.14 B. Gautreaux (SB 170) Proposed law authorizes the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism to enter into a cooperative agreement with any appropriate public or private entity for the operation and maintenance of the Palmetto Island State Park for a public purpose. Proposed law provides that in any agreement that the state be responsible for any and all costs for road construction and maintenance, and for any and all costs for heating, cooling, and sewerage, except electricity costs. Proposed law requires the operating entity to adopt rules, regulations, and policies in accordance with the APA and consistent with state and local law for the operation of said site, and all such rules, regulations, and policies will be subject to approval by the office of state parks.
