SENATE BILL NO. 172

AN ACT1
To authorize and provide for the transfer of certain state property in Vermilion Parish; to2
provide for the property descriptions; to provide for reservation of mineral rights; to3
provide terms and conditions; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. The secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries,6
notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, is hereby authorized and7
empowered to convey, transfer, assign, and deliver any interest, excluding mineral8
rights, the state may have to all or any portion of the following described parcel of9
property to the Vermilion Parish School Board, contingent upon written consent by BP10
America Production Company or its successors:11
A certain tract of land, including all improvements located thereon,12
situated and lying south and west of the Warren Drainage Ditch Canal right of13
way and being in Sections 10, 14, and 15, Township 13 South, Range 1 West,14
containing approximately 340 acres, more or less, Parish of Vermilion, State of15
Louisiana.16
Section 2. In exchange for the above described property, the secretary of the17
Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, notwithstanding any other provision of law to18
the contrary, is hereby authorized and empowered to accept delivery of title to all or19
any portion of the following described properties, excluding mineral rights, from the20
Vermilion Parish School Board:21
A. A certain tract of land, excluding mineral rights and including all22
improvements located thereon, situated and being in Section 16, Township 1423
South, Range 2 West, containing approximately 640 acres, more or less, Parish24
of Vermilion, State of Louisiana.25
B. A certain tract of land, excluding mineral rights and including all26
improvements located thereon, situated and being in Section 16, Township 1627 SB NO. 172	ENROLLED

South, Range 2 West, containing approximately 640 acres, more or less, Parish1
of Vermilion, State of Louisiana.2
Section 3. The secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, on behalf3
of the state of Louisiana, is hereby authorized to enter into such agreements, covenants,4
conditions, and stipulations and to execute such documents as necessary to properly5
effectuate any conveyance, transfer, assignment, or delivery of title, excluding mineral6
rights, to the properties described in Sections (1) and (2), and as more specifically7
described in any such agreements entered into and documents executed by and between8
the secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Vermilion Parish9
School Board, in exchange of consideration proportionate to the appraised value of the10
properties.11
