CONFIRMATION. Requires that the members of the management board for the proposed
academic medical center in New Orleans be confirmed by the Senate. (gov sig)
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 40:2004, relative to public hospitals; to provide for confirmation of the2
management board of any legal entity formed for the purpose of financing,3
constructing, or operating a public hospital or academic medical center in New4
Orleans; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 40:2004 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง2004. Public hospital management board; confirmation8
A. The management board of any legal entity formed pursuant to R.S.9
17:3390, an executed memorandum of understanding, or any other contract or10
agreement by the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University, the state11
of Louisiana, and the Administrators of the Tulane Educational Fund, for the12
purpose of financing, constructing, or operating a public hospital or academic13
medical center in the city of New Orleans shall be subject to confirmation by the14
Senate prior to being seated on the board of any such legal entity.15
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not16
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature17 SB NO. 18

by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If1
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become2
effective on the day following such approval.3
