CONFIRMATION. Requires that the appointees to the management board for the proposed
academic medical center in New Orleans be confirmed by the Senate and requires financial

AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 40:2004, relative to public hospitals; to provide for confirmation of the2
management board of any legal entity formed for the purpose of financing,3
constructing, or operating a public hospital or academic medical center in New4
Orleans; to provide relative to financial disclosure; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 40:2004 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง2004. Public hospital management board; confirmation8
A. Appointees to the management board of any legal entity formed9
pursuant to R.S. 17:3390, an executed memorandum of understanding, or any10
other contract or agreement by the Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State11
University, the state of Louisiana, and the Administrators of the Tulane12
Educational Fund, for the purpose of financing, constructing, or operating a13
public hospital or academic medical center in the city of New Orleans shall be14
subject to confirmation by the Senate prior to being seated on the board of any15
such legal entity.16
B. The provisions of R.S. 42:1124.2.1 shall be applicable to those entities17 SB NO. 18

specified in Subsection A of this Section.1
Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not2
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature3
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If4
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become5
effective on the day following such approval.6
