Regular Session, 2010 SENATE BILL NO. 29 BY SENATOR MORRELL ASSESSORS. Provides for the assessor elected in Orleans Parish to take office on July first. (gov sig) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 47:1901(B), relative to the Orleans Parish assessor; to provide2 that the tax assessor for Orleans Parish shall take office on July first of the year in3 which he is elected; and to provide for related matters.4 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6 Section 1. R.S. 47:1901(B) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง1901. Election8 * * *9 B. At the local municipal election held every four years, there shall be elected10 in Orleans Parish by the qualified voters thereof, one tax assessor, who shall hold11 office for four years from and after the thirty-first first day of December July of the12 year in which he is elected.13 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not14 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature15 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.
