WILDLIFE RESOURCES. Constitutional amendment to change the composition of the
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission.  (2/3-CA13s1(A)) (1/1/11)
A JOINT RESOLUTION1
Proposing to amend Article IX, Section 7(A) of the Constitution of Louisiana, relative to the2
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission; to change the composition of the3
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission; and to specify an election for4
submission of the proposition to electors and provide a ballot proposition.5
Section 1. Be it resolved by the Legislature of Louisiana, two-thirds of the members6
elected to each house concurring, that there shall be submitted to the electors of the state, for7
their approval or rejection in the manner provided by law, a proposal to amend Article IX,8
Section 7(A) of the Constitution of Louisiana, to read as follows:9
ยง7.  Wildlife and Fisheries Commission10
Section 7.(A) Members; Terms.  The control and supervision of the wildlife11
of the state, including all aquatic life, is vested in the Louisiana Wildlife and12
Fisheries Commission.  The commission shall be in the executive branch and shall13
consist of seven members appointed by the governor, subject to confirmation by the14
Senate. Six members shall serve overlapping terms of six years, and one member15
shall serve a term concurrent with that of the governor. Three members shall be16
electors of the coastal parishes and representatives of the commercial fishing and fur17 SB NO. 339

industries, and four shall be electors from the state at large other than representatives1
of the commercial fishing and fur industries, as provided by law.  No member who2
has served six years or more shall be eligible for reappointment. consist of the3
members of the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment and4
the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, or the successors to those5
committees which have jurisdiction over wildlife and fisheries.6

Section 2. Be it further resolved that this proposed amendment shall become8
effective on January 1, 2011.9
Section 3. Be it further resolved that this proposed amendment shall be submitted10
to the electors of the state of Louisiana at the statewide election to be held on November 2,11
2010.12
Section 4. Be it further resolved that on the official ballot to be used at said election13
there shall be printed a proposition, upon which the electors of the state shall be permitted14
to vote FOR or AGAINST, to amend the Constitution of Louisiana, which proposition shall15
read as follows:16
To change the composition of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries17
Commission from governor's appointees to members of the House18
Committee on Natural Resources and Environment and the Senate19
Committee on Natural Resources, or the successors to those committees20
which have jurisdiction over wildlife and fisheries.21

Proposed constitutional amendment changes the membership composition of the
commission.
Proposed constitutional amendment provides that the commission will consist of the
members of the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment and the Senate
Committee on Natural Resources, or the successors to those committees which have
jurisdiction over wildlife and fisheries.
Specifies submission of the amendment to the voters at the statewide election to be held on
November 2, 2010.
Effective on January 1, 2011, if approved by voters.
