Regular Session, 2010 SENATE BILL NO. 400 BY SENATOR RISER EMBALMERS/FUNERAL DIRECT. Provides relative to funeral directors, embalmers, and crematory operators in Louisiana. (8/15/10) AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 37:842(A)(1) and 872(B)(1), relative to funeral directors,2 embalmers and crematory retort operators; to provide for non-residents being3 licensed in Louisiana; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 37:842(A)(1) and 872(B)(1) are hereby amended and reenacted to6 read as follows: 7 §842. Minimum qualifications for license 8 A. Any applicant shall be qualified for license as funeral director if he: 9 (1) Is a resident of Louisiana, and twenty-one years of age, or at least10 eighteen years of age and legally emancipated.11 * * *12 §872. Qualifications for licensure of a crematory retort operator; exception;13 compliance with other regulations14 * * *15 B. Present law provides that a requirement for licensure as a crematory retort operator has residency in the state. Proposed law removes that requirement. Effective August 15, 2010.
