HUNTERS/HUNTING.  Provides relative to nonresident combination lifetime hunting and
fishing licenses for certain veterans who have been wounded or disabled during active duty.

AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 56:649.4, relative to nonresident combination lifetime hunting2
and fishing licenses; to provide for the purchase of certain combination licenses for3
veterans who have been wounded or disabled; to provide requirements, terms, and4
conditions; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 56:649.4 is hereby amended to read as follows: 7
ยง649.4.  Nonresident combination lifetime hunting and fishing license 8
A. Any nonresident may obtain a combination lifetime hunting and fishing9
license which shall entitle the licensee to all of the privileges of both the lifetime10
hunting and lifetime sports fishing licenses provided for in R.S. 56:649.1 and 649.2.11
The fee for the nonresident combination lifetime license shall be three thousand12
dollars.13
B.(1) Any nonresident veteran who has been wounded or disabled during14
active duty with one of the armed forces of the United States or a reserve15
component, including the National Guard, and such injury is service-connected16
may obtain a combination lifetime hunting and fishing license which shall17 SB NO. 473

entitle the licensee to all of the privileges of both the lifetime hunting and1
lifetime sports fishing licenses provided for in R.S. 56:649.1 and 649.2. The fee2
for such nonresident combination lifetime license shall be three hundred3
dollars.4
(2) Such nonresident veteran must possess a valid Louisiana birth5
certificate, and provide satisfactory proof of having been a Louisiana resident6
for at least ten years.7

Present law allows a nonresident to obtain a combination lifetime hunting and fishing license
for a fee of $3000.00
Proposed law retains present law and provides that the fee for a combination lifetime hunting
and fishing license for a nonresident veteran who has been disabled or wounded during
active duty and the injury is service-connected shall be $300.00.
Proposed law provides that such veteran must possess a valid Louisiana birth certificate and
provide satisfactory proof of being a Louisiana resident for at least 10 years.
Effective August 15, 2010.
